Join MASC at the Ace Cafe on Tuesday 14th August...

Every summer the massed throngs of the MASC descend on the Ace Cafe in North London. this year is no different.

Why not come along to an evening of classic cars, chat, beer or tea or coffee and a good cheap meal at the Ace Cafe. Various area groups form around the country will be coming down (and up!) to the Ace.

It is advisable to get there early, especially if it it stays sunny. Before 6pm and you have a chance of parking in the car park any later and you will be in the road.  If you want more information get in touch. Details of the Ace Cafe are here on their website;  http://www.ace-cafe-london.com/

Home Counties Activities in July and August

Is the summer here yet? Well this weekend sees the Silverstone Classic, where the Midget and Sprite Club have a club display for all three days, and the Chiltern Open Air Museum Classic Car weekend; these normally happen in the summer!

Various members from the HCNW will be at Silverstone on Saturday and Sunday and on Sunday there will be members at the Chiltern Open Air Museum, alongside members from the Hampshire Chapter. The weather forecast is good for a change, so we may get a weekend of top down Spridget driving weather!

Now if you can not make these events (or even if you can!) the next road run event is being organised by Keith and Ann and will take place on Sunday 5th August. Starting at the Chequers in Redbourn at 10am, with a meeting point on the A5,  the run will take us to the Glenn Miller Museum and the Twinwood Aviation museum in Bedford.

The Glenn Miller Museum is open from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm and the admission charge is £4.00.  Admission to the Twinwood Aviation Museum, which is on the same site, is included in the price and they will stay open until 5.00 pm if visitors are still on site.

No hot food is served but you are able to purchase hot drinks.  Meal options are therefore either to bring a picnic or have lunch in one of the pubs in Clapham Village – food served from 12.00-3.00pm at the Horse & Groom in the High Street.  The Fox & Hounds also serves food but this is a “sports” pub and might prove more noisy – the choice is yours!
Please get in contact with me or Keith if you fancy coming along.

Cancelled...Cancelled...

The Chiltern Hills Rally, scheduled for this Sunday 20th May, has been cancelled.

Regrettably the field that the organisers use is waterlogged and with more rain forecast for the weekend they have (sensibly) decided to cancel the Rally.

Details can be found here: http://www.chilternhillsrally.org.uk/

After the good weather that we were lucky enough to have on our first two outings of the year, lets hope that the weather for the Chiltern Hills Vintage Car Show on Sunday May 20th is just as good.

We have a club stand reserved, but the organisers seem to be very strict and only pre booked cars will be able to join us, but why not turn up on the day and just come and say hello. Although you might still be able to get booked in if you are quick. More information is available from their website at http://www.chilternhillsrally.org.uk/

If you are coming along and haven't already told me then please let me know. Otherwise we will just see you there. And don't forget the pub night on the last Wednesday of the month at the Chequers Inn Redbourn...

Drive It Day Run - April 22nd

Following last weekends successful run (see the picture above), with only a few mechanical niggles and a couple of wrong turns, lets hope for a big turn out and good weather for our next one!

I am organising the next run and it will be on Sunday 22nd April starting a Tesco in Tring. As usual we will be finishing off the run with a pub lunch... The route has been planned and driven and now just needs a fine tune before the day.

So I can confirm numbers for the pub can you please contact me to confirm you would like to join us. Either call me or e-mail (details in MASCOT).

With the 22nd being the FBHVC's Drive It Day we should see plenty of other people out enjoying their cars too! I hope you can join us.

2012 is here and the HCNW Events Calendar is almost ready for publication... keep an eye on your in box!

Here is a sneak peek of what is planned; our first road run of the year is planned for Sunday, 25th March. Chris and Pat have volunteered to organise the day for us. I will write around again nearer the time to confirm details and see who is coming. I am sure we will end up with a nice pub lunch somewhere.

The next road run after that is on the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs' Drive It Day, 22nd April. Jen and I are organising this one and details will be confirmed nearer the time.

Of course we also have our regular pub nights on the last Wednesday of the month and this year that means February's is on the 29th! Now that doesn't happen very often. March's night is the 28th March. Why not pop along and say hello?

So keep an eye out for the full events calendar which should be with you soon. Drive safely!
